About Our Company

Sail Away Bay Marine, a Certified Yamaha Center, is owned and operated by Tyler Murphy. Having been born in Lake Wylie, NC, Murphy literally grew up on the lake where he was always on or around boats. Murphy's love for going fast initially led him to the sport of motocross at an early age and even into his teenage and early adult years. A long list of broken bones and multiple concussions pushed Murphy to walk away from the sport of motocross and led him back to his first love of boats. This renewed passion for the lake and all things boast led Murphy to bringing his new dream and vision of Sail Away Bay Marine to Life.

From it's humble beginnings of servicing clients out of his 2000 Ford Econoline e250 van to most recently opening a brand new 3,000 square foot facility, Murphy has always relied on his 15+ years of experience of servicing boats to go above and beyond for his clients. Murphy's attention to detail and his continual desire for his customers' 100% satisfaction has resulted in Murphy's strong reputation in the surrounding boating communities.

When Murphy isn't servicing a boat or helping a client sell a boat, you can bet he is somewhere out on the lake on his boat, wake boarding, or surfing. Murphy currently lives in Belmont, NC with his wife Anna and their two "fur-babies" Moto and Meeko.
